Starla may be an adorably tiny pooch, but this pup is just as effective in being a guard dog. Although Starla’s original job description was to look cute all the time and make her family happy, she recently proved that she could do way more. When intruders broke into their home, Starla did not hesitate to risk her life to protect a young girl.
It was around 3 p.m. on Tuesday when two armed burglars forced their way into Dion Ewing’s home in South Fulton, Georgia. At that time, only Starla, the two-year-old Yorkshire terrier, and Dion’s niece were at the residence. When the robbers broke the door down, Starla distracted them. Because of that, one of the thieves shot the courageous dog’s front and hind legs.
Meanwhile, Dion’s niece received an alert on her phone regarding the people who were approaching. So, while Starla was keeping the burglars busy, the young girl escaped through their garage. The robbers tried to chase Dion’s niece even after she made it outside. So, even if she was already shot twice, Starla was still determined to follow the gunmen.
According to Dion, one of the thieves asked the other if he should shoot the little girl. However, thanks to Starla’s relentless barking, the robbers got distracted and decided not to go through with their plan anymore. Instead, they got into their car and then sped away.
Dion said that Starla was like a little guard dog. She may be small, but she is, without a doubt, full of bravery. If not for Starla, things could have ended differently. She is indeed a hero pup who used nothing but her bark to keep her family safe. Dion believes that the burglars were cowards. She is asking for anyone who knows anything about robbers to turn them in.
