A stray pit bull mix came to an animal shelter one day. The staff quickly scanned the dog and discovered it was microchipped. They knew immediately that she used to belong to someone. The staff took the initiative to reach out to the owner. To their disappointment, the contact information was outdated. Their efforts in contacting the potential owner led to nothing.
As the days went on, the dog stayed in the shelter and was named Day Day. She is often described by the staff as a big dog with a golden heart. She is very adorable and loves to have fun and enjoys having all the attention from the volunteers in the shelter. Despite all of Day Day’s adorable qualities, she always got rejected by potential adopters.
Clearly, Day Day needed a little help. The shelter chose her to be a part of a campaign sponsored by a beer company. Proceeds from this campaign would help fund a new facility in the shelter. Along with other adoptable dogs, Day Day’s happy face was placed on beer cans that were released on the 19th of January.
And so this story went viral quickly. A hundred miles away, Monica Mathis was sitting on her couch while watching TV. To her surprise, a commercial was flashed on the TV screen featuring her dog that got lost three years ago. She identified the dog right away and contacted the shelter. Mathis showed the shelter vet records as well as photos of Day Day. The staff verified the information, and they were all happy that they finally found the owner of Day Day.
Since Mathis now lives very far from Day Day, the shelter is exhausting all their resources to help Day Day and Mathis see each other as soon as possible. They all hope that this adorable dog finally gets home to her mom again. Day Day will surely be missed in the shelter. But everyone is hoping for a beautiful ending to this story.
