Today we are living in a world flooded with modern technology that, whether we admit it or not, has alienated us from one another. It mostly affects our children. Devices like smartphones, tablets, and others has led us to be less interested in the world around us.
While most children spend their playtime playing video games, there is a boy who spends his free time in a somewhat unusual place – a dog shelter.
His name is Evan Bisnauth, and his hobby is reading bedtime stories to dogs at New York’s City Animal Care Center. Evan visits animal shelters with his mother and he read stories to dogs to shorten the time before the adoption.
He says that dogs are frightened while they are waiting for people to adopt them and he wants to make it easier for them while they’re in the shelter.
Evan usually sits in front of the dog’s cage and read stories to them. He has a soothing voice that calms the dogs down while providing them with additional comfort and security.
It is not uncommon for dogs to fall asleep listening to Evan’s stories. Dogs of different breeds live in the shelter, and all of them have one thing in common – they are all scared in the beginning.
They need someone to help them calm down as well as someone to provide them with a sense of security. Who’s better for that job than a child? Evan is a young volunteer who comes to this place doing what he knows best. And guess what? He’s not the only one.
Let’s all be like Evan
More and more children are doing the same. Shelters for dogs need people like Evan, and who is better for this job than a child?
Pay attention to the dogs’ reactions to Evan’s reading in this video.
